Friends Drift Inn is Growing a Good Life in Appalachia. The “Good Life Blog” by Joyce Pinson features recipes, farm activities, jam and jelly products, chef interviews, and lifestyle posts centering around Central Appalachia and the Southern food and farm community. There are always surprises and lots of giggles.
Friends Drift Inn blog began as a way to document real-life in Appalachia from the view of a farmer who loves to cook and entertain. Over the years, the food blog has covered a wide variety of topics including interviews with chefs Ed Lee, Sean Brock, and The Voltaggio Brothers as well as seed savers and farmers including Bill Best, the University of Kentucky agricultural experts, and farmer friends from across the Appalachian region.
The blog evolved into a syndicated newspaper column, local cable television show, and eventually became a platform to promote Friends Drift Inn Farm and Kitchen. A living document, the blog continues to explore tourism, agriculture and Appalachian foodways as a means of growing a good life in Appalachia.
