Description

Jazz up boring hot dog bars with a little heat.  Spoon peach habanero jam on grilled hot dogs for a unique picnic or tailgating option.

Ingredients

Scale

Instructions

  1. Bring the grill up to temperature.
  2. Grill wieners.  I like them with char, if you are making one for me.
  3. Slice peaches.
  4. Brush 2 teaspoons warmed Peach Habanero jam over the fruit and grill just enough to soften.
  5. Serve hot dogs on buns (use tongs not fork!)  with a teaspoon of Peach Habanero Jam and garnish with grilled peaches.

 Serving Suggestions:

Wow your guests with a wide variety of hot dog bar toppings.  For Peach Habanero Jam and hot dogs, we suggest grilled peaches, fresh mint leaves or a mint pesto with walnuts, grilled peppers and onions, bacon crumbles, a hot pepper jelly, and grilled pineapples.  A dollop of cool sour cream or crème fraiche will be appreciated by those not quite ready for the Pepper Head plunge.

Notes

We usually serve hot dogs straight off the grill.  If you are preparing a picnic or tailgate for a crowd, keep wieners warming in a crock pot with a little beer or water.  As guests come through, we do a quick pass over the grill to add flavor and texture.

Remember, don’t use a fork when turning or serving.  You loose “the juice.”  Instead, opt for tongs.

This recipe was developed with Friends Drift Inn Peach Habanero Jam’s flavor profile.  Not every jam will perform the same way.
