Pleasantly cooling this summer blueberry cocktail features bourbon and blueberry jam.  Like a porch door that swings both ways, it can be casual or fancy.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Fill shaker with ice.
  2. Add ingredients.
  3. Shake until chilled.
  4. Strain and serve in a frosty rocks glass with ice.
  5. Float blueberries on the icy surface, three is good.
  6.  An additional lemon garnish gives a pop of acid and color appeal.

Notes

Keep cocktail glasses chilled in the fridge for unexpected guest or simply for ease of creating a truly chilled beverage.

This recipe was formulated especially for Friends Drift Inn Blueberry Jam. We cannot predict how other jams will perform.

For photography, we generally use a thin walled glass to create an appealing image.  However, at the big red barn we like cocktail glasses with heft.  A thicker walled bourbon cocktail glass is a pleasure to hold and is less likely to tip over on a serving tray.  A more substantial bourbon cocktail glass can take the abuse of the dishwasher better than thin fragile ones.  Just saying.

Do I really need to tell you Kentucky bourbon is preferred over all the others?  Visit our Kentucky Bourbon Trail while on vacation.  You will be amazed!

Please use a cocktail napkin or coaster.  It is classy.  It is polite.  It will keep those little beads of condensation from dripping on your shirt or making a nasty ring on my furniture.

Drink responsibly.
