Oven Baked Sweet Potato Chips

Sweet Potato Chips is one of those recipes I just have to do all by myself, if Charlie will let me play with the mandolin. (Yes, there has been an incident…but we’re not talking about that)
To get perfect Sweet Potato Chips, you have to know your oven. Before the big Super Bowl Party, do a small trial run or two of these engaging chiperoos. They crisp up quickly, and if you aren’t careful they will go all brown. But once you decode your oven’s intentions, these are super easy.
Sweet Potato Chips have subtle sweetness making them a pleasant pairing with spicy Super Bowl food. We like these with just a little salt, but feel free to add different flavorings.

Sweet Potato Recipe, Snack, Super Bowl Food
Ingredients
- 2 medium Sweet Potatoes
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil (Extra Virgin)
- 1/2 – ¾ teaspoon coarse Kosher Salt
Method
1. Preheat Oven to 400°
2. Wash Sweet Potatoes
3. Slice Sweet Potatoes 1/8 inch thick, use a mandolin for consistent slices
4. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and oil lightly
5. Baking time about 15 minutes, turn chips over after about 7 minutes
6. Sprinkle with salt
Serves 2 – 4
I usually pull these out of oven just before they are done, setting on top of the stove to let finish off.
Sweet Potatoes Chips are a sweet compliment to spicy foods. Serve as you would potato chips, or use for a garnish on top of soups and salads.

This is totally on my to make list for SuperSowSunday for some 1/2 time snacking!
Must try these at least once before you are entertaining a crowd. They do get brown fast…but once you get the oven time figured out a winner! We love these on simple soups as an interesting garnish!
These look amazing! and crispy. I have a hard time getting mine to crisp up
I pull the sweet potato chips out of oven before they go totally dark brown. Then I set them on top of the stove still on the tray….you can still see the oil sizzling. I keep my eye on them, but this seems to work to help crisp. I have done these with and without the convection button setting on our oven. I don’t see a big difference, but husband says they cook a little more even when convection setting is used. He’s smart about such things.
Those sound so good! I’m a bit addicted to all sweet potatoes right now! Thanks for feeding my addiction!
These sound great with hot wings. I’ll get the mandoline out and get started practicing your method.
This recipe Charlie calls “The Mandoline Incident”. I am dangerous sometimes! Giggles
