Friends Drift Inn Farm – Real Life
Chef Albert Schmid Wins Accolades
This cookbookoffers interesting possibilities for bourbon lovers. I have tried the Kentucky Colonel Bourbon Balls Recipe and was definitely not disappointed. I have more selections to showcase, as we move closer to Kentucky Derby.
I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Albert Schmid at Sullivan University’s Incredible Food Show back in October. A quiet smile with just a twinkle of mischief in his eyes, I really wish I had allotted more time to chat with the Master Chef.
A Louisville resident, Schmid is well-know in hotel and restaurant circles for his book, Hospitality Manager’s Guide to Wines, Beers, and Spirits (2nd Edition)
Cooking with Bourbon…That’s the Spirit!
Schmid’s latest book, The Kentucky Bourbon Cookbook features over fifty recipes that include Bourbon. The seasonal approach is Kentucky’s Bourbon lore painted against the likes of Bourbon Beignets, Kentucky Bourbon Pancakes and the signature drink of Kentucky in May, the Mint Julep.
Recipes range from main courses to desserts.
Schmid’s work was recently awarded the Gourmand World Cookbook Award in the Cooking with Beer, Wine, or Spirits Category. As a University of Kentucky alumni, and a fan of UK’s Kentucky Press I’ll just tell you we Kentucky sippers raise our glass to Schmid.
The Kentucky Bourbon Cookbook looks destined to be one of my favorites. I might even try the Hot Buttered Bourbon Oatmeal for breakfast next week.
Until then, I dream of Kentucky Derby Week and a menu filled with bourbon!
